ISSUES: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines

10 Corso Como New York will launch acclaimed photography critic Vince Aletti’s new book, ISSUES: A History of Photography in Fashion Magazines, published by Phaidon, on Friday, April 26. Highlighting 100 of the most significant magazine issues from 1925 to 2018, Issues showcases groundbreaking photography from publications including American, British, and French Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, The New York Times Magazine, i.D and Document Journal.

Issues features rarely published images by some of the world’s most iconic photographers including Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Edward Steichen, Toni Frissell, Irving Penn, Diane Arbus, Collier Schorr, Inez and Vinoodh, Juergen Teller, Bill Cunningham, and Cindy Sherman, among others.

The magazines have all been selected from Aletti’s vast personal collection. An industry veteran, writer, curator and critic, Aletti is known for his work in Artforum, photograph, and Apeture, amongh other publications. He was art editor and photography critic of the Village Voice and reviewed exhibitions for the New Yorker’s “Goings On About Town” section.

Aletti’s view of fashion history is refreshing and this luxurious hard covered book with crisp, richly colored photographs is a great addition to any fashion and photography lover’s coffee table collection..
