Give the Gift of Georg Jensen This Season
Georg Jensen, the centuries-old prominent Danish design company lauded for their exquisite silver designs, is celebrating one of their legendary silversmiths with a special product released from their archives. In 1954, the acclaimed Danish modernist designer, Henning Koppel (1918-1981), designed the exquisite 1041 Dish, an undulating form that showcased his prowess of organic curves that was evocative of his modern sculptural vision. Koppel was considered one of the most talented designers of his time and his work encompassed a variety of designs from homewares to jewelry and watches. “Koppel would challenge the boundaries of silver craft, dreaming up inventive, original forms that would push the material to its limits, and the 1041 [Dish] would prove to be one of his most daring designs ever.” A perfectionist by nature, Koppel eventually destroyed the 1041 Dish, feeling that the product didn’t line up with his vision.
Since then, the 1041 Dish has remained a hidden treasure in the Georg Jensen design archives. Now, to honor the centenary year of Koppel’s birth, Georg Jensen is reintroducing the famous 1041 Dish, which will remain in the brand’s permanent collection of collectible Masterpieces. The 1041 Dish is available at 10 Corso Como New York along with a collection of other Georg Jensen collectibles. Tabletop pieces that include bowls, silverware, sculptural candle holders, trays, and pitchers are on offer as well as a variety of stunning architectural jewelry. Items not to be missed are the Christmas ornaments–the perfect hostess gift. Each piece from the Georg Jensen collection is a collectible and modern heirloom.
